Home Depot Kids Workshop
Ooh- we LOVE the Home Depot Kids Workshop. We discovered it a few months ago and attend faithfully each month. It's for kids ages 5-12 and it's the first Saturday of every month--each month the kids get to do a different project. They have their own little apron (in a beautiful shade of Home-Depot-Orange) and for every project they complete they receive a certificate and a pin for their apron. The best part (brace yourselves)... it's FREE. I know, right?
I was attempting to help Jackson build his awesome race car when luckily for him, Grandpa Cliff showed up. Jackson didn't want to hurt my feelings but he was quite relieved to see Grandpa!
I love this picture of Aspen reading the instructions-- she probably understood it better than I did!
Way to go, Aspen!

Jazz Reading
This year 78 schools in Utah participated in a Jazz Reading contest. The students at each of these schools were supposed to read as much as possible and turn in their minutes. The top 12 schools would win a Jazz Player to come to an assembly at the school and read to the kids.
My kids' school was one of the top 12 and they got to have Jarron Collins come read to them. They thought it was awesome! Their Principal and TSA had made a deal with the students that if they were one of the winners, the kids could turn them into ice cream sundae's... pouring chocolate syrup over your principal's head must be like a dream come true!

I think it's so awesome that these ball players would do this right in the heart of basketball season. My kids spent each evening trying to accrue minutes-- Aspen was the second top-reader in her class! Each kid received an autographed photo of the player to keep. Last year, their school was one of the top winners as well and they got to see Carlos Boozer. They both still have their signed picture of him!

V-Day Update
We had a great Valentine's Day and I never posted about it- better late than never I guess. Jared and I were able to help with the twins class party at school and we had a great time! We played Valentine's Bingo (thanks to crayola.com) and we had yummy sugar cookies and cherry 7 up. Aspen and Jackson thought it was awesome to have us there (I'm so NOT looking forward to the day that they're embarrassed to have us there).
Aspen had High School Musical 2 Valentines (with tattoos!) and
Jackson had Lego Men Valentines. Perfect choices!

I was so glad I was able to make it because the night before Valentine's Day we had a MASSIVE, crazy storm and the main road to my house was closed due to a 16-car pile up. It took Jared 6 hours to get home from work... fortunately I have an incredible neighbor who had my kids until Jared got there. Anyway- I never made it home from work that night so I was grateful to be home the next morning and able to go to school with the kids!
