Lunch at Dear Lizzie

Me, Aspen, my mom, my grandma and my sister went to Dear Lizzie on Saturday for a girls only lunch.  It was wonderful!  Dear Lizzie is the perfect place to lunch when you want all things girly.  It's actually a really fun store with a little bistro in the back... and their desserts are divine!  Everything is pink and glittery with a vintage feel.

Bear Club!

FIRST DAY OF BEAR CLUB
Each summer these four lucky kids get to go to Bear Club.  It's a summer camp they get to go to one afternoon each week led by Miss Molly (who actually is my aunt).  They LOVE Bear Club and they LOVE Miss/Aunt Molly!  Each week they "visit" a different country and learn all about that country.  They get a stamp in their passport, they color a picture of the country's flag, they get to try food/activities from that country AND they get to bring souvenirs home in their Bear Club tote bag.  This week they got to visit Australia and they learned SO MUCH!  Next week:  Morocco, here they come!!

This will be the last year Aspen and Jackson get to go because they're 8 and next year they'll be too old.  They will be SO SAD not to get to go next year but I'm sure they'll enjoy EVERY moment this summer.

An update... finally.

Jared had a birthday... hip hip hooray!
In honor of Jared turning a BIG 2-8... here are 28 random things about him.
1.  He is a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan.
2.  He is afraid of heights.
3.  He grew up in San Diego before moving to Washington, then Texas.
4.  He likes hot sauce on things... really, really hot sauce.
5.  He's not much of a soda drinker but if he does drink soda he chooses Dr. Pepper or Vault.
6.  He HATES tomatoes (... but loves salsa and spaghetti sauce)
7.  He hates Dodge
8.  He was a pole vaulter in junior high
9.  He served a mission in Montana
10.  He was very close to his Grandpa and lived with him on and off for several years (his grandpa sadly passed away one month into Jared's mission)
11.  He taught our dog, Chase, to give a High 5
12.  Jared hates concerts
13.  He also hates basketball... watching, playing, anything to do with it
14.  In the whole time I've known Jared, I've only seen him without facial hair once
15.  Jared plays on a city league softball team... he's an AWESOME first baseman
16.  He hates onions
17.  Jared never met my sister Becky
18.  Jared is part Costa-Rican... my own little Ricky Ricardo!
19.  His middle name is Bud (named after his Grandpa)
20.  Jared's not all that into video games-- unless Jackson talks him into playing
21.  His first *TRUE* love was a Ford Bronco (a 66 or 67... I can't remember which)
22.  He might have a "rough" exterior but he also has a very sweet side.  He does LOTS of little things for me.  Frequently he'll bring me a fountain diet coke from the gas station and he will fill my car up with gas late at night so I don't have to on my way to work in the morning.  He buys me flowers.  He gives AWESOME back massages.
23.  He has a really expensive *toy* remote control helicopter and it actually was pretty hard to learn how to fly.
24.  Before Jared decided that he wanted to be an air traffic controller he contemplated physical therapy or nursing.
25.  He has two sisters and two brothers and he's second oldest.
26.  He is a total morning person... he pops up bright and early Sunday morning's and makes the kids waffles for breakfast while I sleep in!
27.  He didn't really want to get a dog but I think he secretly loves Chase more than I do!
28.  He is AMAZING!  He's the best husband and dad ever.  We have never been happier thanks to him!

What time is it?

SUMMER TIME!!!

As soon as I picked up the kids from school today, Aspen got in the car and started singing, "What time is it... summer time... it's our vacation..." from High School Musical 2. It was SO funny. So then we listened to the soundtrack and put that song on repeat!

Don't worry- I have plenty to blog about... I've just been too busy! That's what happens during the last couple weeks of school when you work for a school district! I'll update the blog soon!

Running With Angels 5K

On Saturday my family did the Running With Angels 5K at Thanksgiving Point.  Saturday was also the exact five year mark of the day my sister passed away and this was a very fitting tribute to her.  So many people were running/walking this race in memory of their loved ones and it was an awesome sight.  At the start of the race they released a bunch of white doves and I got to be one of the dove releasers!  I was honored to be chosen to do it.
The above picture is me and Pam Hansen.  She wrote the book "Running With Angels" and she's the woman who puts this whole race together.  It was fun meeting her.

This is me releasing the doves!

This picture is classic.  My mom is seriously talking on her cell phone DURING the race!

My favorite pic of the day-- Jaime and my mom coming across the finish line.  I think Jaime earned double points for pushing a stroller with two kids!

I was so PROUD of my kids for wanting to be part of this race.  I ran the race so the kids walked it with Jaime and my mom and I loved how they all took off running toward the finish line.  They finished all 3 miles and I didn't hear any complaining whatsoever.

My awesome hubby came to support us.  He opted out of running/walking due to some crazy foot issues he's having but he was an excellent photographer for me!

So... I ran the race and finished in 33 minutes.  Considering that I've only been running for about one month and that this was my FIRST RACE... I was pretty stoked with my time!

Happy Birthday Jaime!

I tried to post this the other day on Jaime's actual birthday but my computer was having issues.  Jaime is the BEST big sister anyone could have (I hesitate using the word "big" since she's pretty much the size of a toothpick).  She is the best OLDER sister anyone could have.  She's also the best aunt in the world... my kids think going to Aunt Jaime's house is better than going to Disneyland.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
(Obviously, Jaime's the blondie on the right and I'm the other one.  Nice mouse ears, right?)
